|General||This program is geared to students who would like to focus on German language and/or pursue a range of courses offered in German or English at Freie University in Berlin during the summer session. The summer program attracts students from all over the world.|

Berlin is home to renowned universities, research institutes, orchestras, museums, and celebrities, as well as host of many sporting events. Its urban settings and historical legacy have made it a popular location for international film productions. The city is well renowned for its festivals, diverse architecture, nightlife, contemporary arts, public transportation networks and a high quality of living. With a population of 3.4 million, Berlin is the country's largest city as well as its capital and serves as the hub of German culture, politics, media and science. With 153 world-class museums, some of the finest performing arts ensembles in Europe and a very active nightlife, modern Berlin ranks among the most exciting cities in the world.
FUBiS arranges appropriate off-campus accommodation for the duration of the program as an optional service at the student's request. Students should visit the accommodation section of the web site for more information. Accommodation options can be chosen during the registration process. Accommodation is subject to availability.
In most cases, if you are attending an affiliated program you will be billed by, and pay all fees directly to, the program provider or institution operating the program. The IPE Study Abroad Fee will be billed to your UW student account according to the regular UW tuition billing schedule.

To apply for this program, click the "Apply Now" button and follow the prompts to create an application. After you create your application, click on each of the links on your study abroad application homepage and complete the remaining application requirements: questionnaires, material submissions, and electronic signature documents.

After participating in a UW Study Abroad program, students are asked to complete a Program Evaluation Report detailing their experiences abroad and giving advice for future students. These reports cover all aspects of a student's time abroad, including orientation, academics, housing, finances, and cultural differences.
