Program Overview

Budapest is a grand place to explore Central and Eastern European history while building knowledge in business, economics, finance, management, and marketing. Students take classes in English at CIEE’s partner school, Cornivus University, which is located on the banks of the Danube, as well as CIEE Budapest, which is located on the Cornivus campus. The location is ideal for exploring the beautiful architecture and historic sites of both Buda and Pest and for taking part in an internship for real-world international work experience. All courses are complemented with CIEE co-curricular activities and excursions beyond the city to enhance classroom learning and provide intercultural understanding.

Your Destination

Buda and Pest, two halves facing each other across the wide Danube River, make up this grand city where you’ll find a medieval neighborhood and castle, Baroque architecture, and hundreds of museums, theaters, and galleries. As Hungary’s capital, Budapest is the administrative, business, educational, and cultural center of the country. Despite the scars of four decades of communist rule, Budapest retains a rich turn-of-the-century feel and easy-to-live-in charm.

Excursions & Activities

  • Explore beyond the city with day trips to the 1,100-year-old Benedictine Archabbey of Pannonhalma, scenic Lake Balaton, picturesque sites at Danube Bend or Opusztaszer National Heritage Park.
  • Get an insider's introduction to grand museums, galleries, and theaters.
  • Discover the scenic beauty of the Carpathian Mountains, traditional Hungarian hospitality and folklore.

Projects

Volunteering. Whether you tutor, help with research, or run a workshop, you'll connect with Budapest's people in meaningful ways by pitching in at shelters, museums, schools, and more.

Internships. Gain experience and build your resume with a for-credit internship at successful startup companies such as Secret Sauce Partners, the Medical Robotics Research Center, or organizations like the American Corner, universities, and high schools
