|General||Students will attend Keio School of Business through the Foster MBA. Exchange programs require a high level of independence. As such, students should show preparedness to participate in this experience.|
Tokyo is the capital city of Japan and the most populous city in the world. It has a mix of traditional and modern elements, thereby appealing to the tastes of all who visit Tokyo. The city is home to many famous temples, large public gardens, museums, and much more.
Prerequisites and Language Requirements
Students participating in this exchange program must be registered Foster MBA students in good academic standing. In addition, they must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
You will approx. receive 15 UW credits per quarter. How our office will determine the amount is through our Credit Conversion Scale for the program.

All participants are strongly recommended to apply for student housing offered by Keio University, which are generally small fully furnished studio apartments for international students and subsidized, making rent similar to housing in Seattle.
The student housing is located in various parts of Tokyo and Yokohama and students should be prepared to commute up to an hour each way to/from Keio University. NOTE: Housing information and application will be sent with the acceptance letter from Keio.
The UW Study Abroad Office can't officially advise you about visas.
The volume and diversity of students participating, the shifting requirements of foreign governments, and the complexity of these applications make it impossible for us to accurately advise you on immigration policies.
If your program requires a visa, documentation will be provided from your host institution after your acceptance.
As a participant of a university exchange, you pay an exchange fee equivalent to UW tuition (1.5 quarters of UW tuition for semester-long exchanges, and 3 quarters of UW tuition for academic year exchanges). Exchange fees are determined by UW residency status: in-state students pay an exchange fee equivalent to in-state tuition, and out-of-state students pay an exchange fee equivalent to out-of-state tuition. The exchange fee and IPE administrative fee are charged to your UW account and due by the UW tuition deadline for your term(s) of study abroad. You should also budget for additional expenses such as international airfare & transportation, books & course materials, visa & passport fees, study abroad insurance and personal expenses.

We understand that figuring out your finances for study abroad can be complicated and we are here to help. Here are some ways to find additional support:
To apply to a Foster MBA exchange program:
1) Submit a UW Study Abroad application. This application includes a set of electronic signature documents related to UW policies and expectations for study abroad.
2) Submit the Foster MBA Exchange program supplemental application. This application requires you to email a personal statement, current resume, an unofficial transcript, and an application fee to email@example.com. For competitive programs in which more applications are received than available spots, the personal statement will be the primary means for selection. Personal statements will be assessed based on how well the student's personal interests and goals match with the program. This application should be submitted by the UW application deadline.
3) After the UW application deadline, selected students will be notified of their nomination to the exchange program and will receive instructions to submit the exchange program application directly to the program coordinators. Students should receive confirmation from the program coordinators regarding acceptance into the program. Notification dates will vary by program.
Note that departmental Exchanges generally focus on a specific academic discipline and often restrict participation to students in that department. Applications and student selection for Departmental Exchanges are managed by the UW academic department, but students participating in Departmental Exchanges work with the UW Study Abroad Office to complete the same pre-departure requirements as other UW study abroad students.
To be eligible to study abroad, you must complete the mandatory pre-departure orientation facilitated by UW Study Abroad. Visit your study abroad homepage to complete this mandatory orientation. You must also attend any program-specific orientations offered by the program director.
UW Study Abroad Office also offers several optional orientations aimed at preparing you for your study abroad experience. You can visit the Orientation section of our website to view the current schedule and to register for any optional orientation sessions that pique your interest.
Orientation must be completed prior to the enrollment deadline for the quarter that you are studying abroad.

The UW Study Abroad Fee is non-refundable once the payment contract has been submitted. Students withdrawing from a program may also be responsible for paying a percentage of the program fee depending on the date of withdrawal. More details about the withdrawal policy are included in your payment contract. Note that no part of the program fee is refundable once the program has begun.
The date of withdrawal is considered the business day a withdrawal form is received by UW Study Abroad. Notice of withdrawal from the program must be made in writing by completing the following steps:
